This year has been a blur. First I had a burst of reasonably comfortable but really exhausting writing between last December and early March, making progress on posting the new A Bed of Thorns, continuing the new posting of Antithesis, and writing my two conjoined "Masterversary" fics, together called Madness For Two. I put together some of my Master-centric Doctor Who fic recs onto a dedicated recs website, again to celebrate the 50th anniversary. I was even caught up with listening to Big Finish's Doctor Who output.

Then my cat got sick. Everything since then is a blur, with most of my energy eaten up trying to sort the poor girl out, nursing her, observing her, and figuring out how in the hell to pay for her care. Every time I've got back on my feet and thought, "ooh, fandom!", she's crashed again and it all started over. Somewhere along the way, my recs site went down and I think I lost everything, having been too fried to do my usual careful backups or keep my eye on webhosting. The recs themselves are duplicated on AO3, though. ETA: The Master fanfic recs website was rescued from the Oubliette of Eternity by a mysterious passing traveller in a blue box. Thank you!

Early this summer, I thought I was losing my puss to kidney failure - having to force-feed her, lower her protein intake by experimenting with a bewildering array of expensive prescription food, and watch her constantly for infections. So many vet trips. This week, I took her in for an ultrasound and some repeat lab tests, and she got a clean bill of health (given her age). A month ago she was sick with yet another infection - three weeks of yet-more antibiotics cleared it up, but I still have no idea what's causing all this, or if it's over. I'm worried for my precious cat, and I'm totally bummed at having a rare writing/fannish streak broken by Real Life (again). 2021 started so well.

Doctor Who is back on our screens today, and I want my fannish mojo to revive so I can enjoy it properly and join in with the fannish stuff. Fingers crossed.

On the total plus side, having the cat's kidneys ultrasounded involved my medium-hair, creamy white fluffball getting a huge trapdoor shaved on her belly. She's so densely furred that I've never even seen her nipples before. So funny.
