Hello, 2020
2 January 2020 09:33Well, 2019 turned into a write-off. I mean, on the one hand I got a lot done, ticked a lot of things off the list, and things happened to me that were life-improving. On the other hand, in terms of actively doing what I love - writing, fanning, crafting, enjoying nature, learning, thinking - or contributing to society it was a year of waiting to exhale. At best. I've spent the last six months pretty much curled into a shellshocked ball, eating more calories than I burn and mourning my creativity and my contact with friends.
I'm here, I'm trying to be back, but I'm still fragile. I don't really have the resources to deal with fandom's negative side, other than to firmly display my middle digit at it and walk in the opposite direction whenever I encounter it, and I'm not confident that I will ever have the resources again. Last time I tried to return to my fannish life, in December last, the first thing I ran into was an asshole message from some self-appointed God Almighty in my AO3 inbox. Here's hoping for better luck today. Hello, fandom. Don't be a dick.
Dear 2020, do better than 2019. And stop bloody setting fire to Australia.
