nym_wibblyA month on from my surgery and everything's healed up nicely. I've had the minor, expected complications - namely, "cording" in my right armpit (which blessedly snapped yesterday while I was doing the obligatory stretches - much, much better now), and seroma, the collection of excess fluid around the wound. That's been alternately hilarous (chest and underarms like a waterbed) and uncomfortable, and at one point slightly surreal when a breast care nurse patiently aspirated all the fluid, using a syringe that seemed way too small for the job. None of the above has been painful, just a mild nuisance.
For the first time in my adult life, I'm going around on hot days in a strappy, floaty top. I'm not really bothering with fake boobs, not least because the fluid buildup can change my bra band size by up to 3 sizes within 24hrs! Much more comfy without elastic constricting me - I've begun to understand the sensation that goes with the words "cool and summery". It's been a total mystery to me, until now.
My writing efforts have been pitiful. Just pitiful. I'm passing my days by plugging away unbelievably slowly at my family tree on Ancestry, and waiting for Mr Brain to catch up with how well my body is doing. I usually don't lack for self-motivation, but right now, it's an effort of will even to junk the spam in my inbox.
