Rumple Retrospective

I'm thinking of going back to my old Once Upon a Time "Rumple Retrospective" project, where I took a look at Rumple's storyline in detail, episode by episode. I gave it up on Tumblr because, ye gods, the wank if one so much as mentioned Hook, or Cora, or Zelena, or Lacey. And, later on, Neal and Belle too. Or the writers. Or, you know, the show. It's fairly difficult to talk about Rumple while delicately stepping around the sensibilities of the folks who think fictional characters are worth being unpleasant to real people about, let alone cover the subject with any objectivity while trying not to mention pivotal chunks of the story. I'll never tolerate wasting my limited energy on dealing with hate - the kind that haters feel the need to dump on a post about how much I love something instead of putting in their own space - so I gave up.

Dreamwidth is a lot saner than Tumblr (and when it isn't, it's a hell of a lot easier to avoid the wank and make the wankers go away), so I may pick up where I left off and see if I can work my way through the whole show, episode by episode, in all its Rumple-centric glory. It should make for interesting thinky-thoughtness now I can do it with the benefit of hindsight over the entire run of the show, and it should help to anchor ABoT!Rumple to canon by making me actually sit and remember it.  And it'll keep me writing something even when the fanfic words dry up.

Plus I get to look at screencaps of Robert Carlyle enjoying his job. Always a good thing!

I'm missing the characters quite badly.  My interest may have been Rumple-centric, but I loved the whole ensemble. I miss spending time with them.

I'd be down for it! I think that you'd probably get a less wanky response on DW, and with more control over the space.

I fell out of OuaT after a couple of seasons, but I kept dipping back in for RumBelle episodes and letting the other plots sort of roll over me, so I would actually love a series that really dug into his whole arc and where things ended up.

I wonder if there's a good community for OuaT folks who might also like it? If you kept the series posted on your journal, I think that folks would probably respect your space here better than on Tumblr.

I would love to see you continue the Rumple Retrospective project. I enjoy reading your insights into the character and you always seem to spot at least one detail that I missed.

I'd love to read it as well, I actually can't even remember exactly when I stopped watching. I'd rather catch up and finish off the show through your filter.
