nym_wibblyAs of 20 Jan 2019, I've consolidated the first ten chapters of A Bed of Thorns into three. In the process, nine chapters got expanded, while one practically got left out because I never could figure out how to make it fly, and decided the story was better off without it. It was a "time passed" style placeholder for future canon about the Dark Castle that she show never provided.
Belle's more of a bookworm, less passive, and less of an ingénue. By implication and roundabout description of her backstory, she's older than the Belle of ABoT 1.0., with more settled ideas of what she wants out of life, and more realistic ideas of what to expect. She's less self-aware/conscious, more impulsive (the biggest difference between ABoT-1.0!Belle and canon!Belle), and still terribly surprised to discover what an orgasm is. Because it wouldn't be A Bed of Thorns if she wasn't.
Rumple, god help us, is more damaged and defensive, but also managing to be more gallant and helpful to his surprise-bride. A bit, anyway. The show gave the character a lot of layers, some of them masks, showed in some detail what he's like around his family, and I'm trying to project seven years of that back onto the Dark Castle era, still using Skin Deep as the framing device.
