Broken Wheel - Once Upon a Time - Belle/Rumple - AU - strong adult content

A much more mischievous take on Rumple and Belle's twue wuv than A Bed of Thorns (and a heck of a lot shorter). I'm not comfortable writing from inside Rumple's POV, it's so bloody dark in there, but I am surprisingly comfortable reading this piece (and its equally undemanding sequel) back right now. If you're in the mood for my "Rumbelle" but can't face an epic WIP, Broken Wheel is the one to try. It's a character study first and foremost, but with smut.
He walks to his laboratory, his turret room of books and magic. He walks, because he commands himself not to run like a craven coward from the girl who traded her future to him for the sake of a little town. He strolls, in fact, hands behind his back, and pauses to examine a suit of armour, a chip in the marble of a plinth, and the prodigious cobweb that's stretched, impressively, across the ceiling of the passageway, and which he has quite forbidden his little housekeeper to attack with her busy feather duster. A fat and self-satisfied spider sits at the centre of the intricate net, the master of all spinners, pulling silk stronger than steel out of its arse. It's a trick to be admired, even by one who can spin straw into gold.

Rumpelstiltskin is reasonably sure that the web could now entangle a small bird. He opens a window at the end of the passage, conjures a handful of grain, spreads it upon the sill, and awaits developments.

Antithesis
(WIP) - Doctor Who - Ten, Jack, Simm!Master - Jack/Ten, Doctor/Master, way complicated relationships - AU - strong adult content

This one's been burning a hole in my brain for more than ten years, and I think that long process of percolation shows in the depth of worldbuilding, the sophistication of the characterisation, and the scope of the concept. It may be more ambitious than I can actually pull off, come the finish, but god I'm having fun trying. It's a post-Year-That-Never-Was story. That's a Doctor Who fanfic genre in its own right, and one that hardly needs latecomers. My excuse is that I've had this plotbunny all along, always pushing it to one side for Stargate or Once Upon a Time instead. It got its turn when a Tumblr Anon (who never came forward even when I begged) provided me with thirteen obscenely insightful prompts for this specific plotbunny, which became the titles of the first thirteen chapters of Antithesis. It was meant to end then, but WIPs don't do what they're told. Ten, Jack and the Master aboard the TARDIS, all sitting on their hands so nobody can move. Immortal assholes FTW. Because it's me, you get hurt/comfort, angst, and smut.
Jack's pain rolls over him in waves, his shields a mess, and the Doctor almost calls a halt mid-kiss. He doesn't fully understand what they are to one another in this regeneration, but it's been relief and respite, fun and forgetting—not this outpouring of anguish while they kiss and grab and grind. And the negativity isn't all Jack's. His own doubts and dread slip through the cracks, drawn out by the Captain's distress, by osmosis, and he can feel his fingers leaving bruises on the other man's back.

Warming Up
- Once Upon a Time - Belle/Rumple

Nym attempts unadulterated, angst-free, work-safe, romantic, Dark Castle fluff.

I TRIED.
"Normally I'd ask before removing a lady's clothing," he tells her in a loud whisper, shielding his mouth with one hand as though the forest might overhear him being indelicate. "But you looked so chilly."

I'm glad you included Broken Wheel. That one's stuck in my head since you first wrote it.

Holy crap, Jack/Ten is my CATNIP and I've missed it so much. Bookmarking that one for later, I'm so excited to read it!
